Week 6 assignment

The topic for the week 6 assignment is marketing. I think I like the assignment -- sure seems like a lot of work though. More theory analysis required. Also a proposal. A lot of work. I will get started.

Work continues

This is a challenging week, but I will try to get my work done. I need to hold on to the reins....while I try to steady/calm the storm around me.

I continue to read my selected articles....

The second is a long one, but very interesting. Who knew mutual funds provided a "rare window" or unique opportunity to test a theory (that provides info on the effect of organizational structure on performance)?

Week 2 assignment submitted

Assignment submitted. The Labor Day holiday affected things. The assignment still turned out great!
Very interesting topic.

Assignment completed

I completed and submitted the assignment yesterday. I decided to submit yesterday because the Mid-Manhattan NYPL would be closed on Sunday (the next day) and I wasn't sure what would happen. It was too risky. I could have spent some more time on the paper....however, I like what I submitted.

My search going well. So far, I am seeing that banks need to consider the effect of data breaches and other fraud on the customer. Customers may lose confidence, use services/products less, and so on.

First assignment...continued

After thinking about companies in the news for fraud, I came up with a candidate: Capital One. Not so long ago, I read and retweeted a news article on fraud at the company (or maybe a similar bank). I ran a Google search to view recent news stories on Capital One. The following four stories stood out:

I thought I would see/find more pervasive fraud (fraud in a particular department, fraud leading to a restatement or something similar). This company might work. I will think about this some more & look around for more examples.

First assignment

The first assignment is on the importance of ethics in organizations. I need to select an organizaation with ethical problems/issues. Work begins!
